Marshalls needed for 2012 IRC Circuit of Ireland Rally

Organisers of this year‘s Circuit of Ireland have appealed for marshals for the 2012 Donnelly Group Circuit of Ireland Rally.

It was recently confirmed that this year‘s event will take its place on Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) series. The IRC will be watched by an estimated 79 million fans and is the third most popular motorsport series in the world, after Formula One.

The 13-round Championship will span Europe, with the Circuit of Ireland Rally as the only UK or Irish round on the calendar, in its traditional Easter slot 6/7 April 2012.

Bobby Willis, Director of the Donnelly Group Circuit of Ireland Rally said: “We’ve done it! When we took over the running of the Rally in 2010 we stated that we wanted to re-awaken the sleeping giant that is the Circuit of Ireland and today’s announcement is the realisation of that vision.”

Over recent years the Circuit of Ireland Rally has started in Dundalk and Armagh, with the rally hosting a super special stage in the centre of Lisburn last year which drew more than 15,000 spectators.

Local driver Kris Meeke who won the IRC series in 2009 said: “Hosting such a high profile event here is unbelievable and is fantastic news for rally fans in Ireland. My congratulations to Bobby Willis and the Circuit of Ireland team who will deliver a sporting event that will showcase my home country on a global scale!"

Please register your interest in marshalling this year‘s event at www.circuitofireland.net/4/marshals - the Circuit of Ireland Team would like to extend their thanks to everyone who wishes to participate and has volunteered in the past.
