This is the most powerful production C-Class ever built: the new Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series.

The figures are astonishing: a ballistic 517bhp, maximum torque of 620Nm and Mercedes claim that it will accelerate from zero to 62 mph in a supercar-like 4.2 seconds.

Aside from the super-tuned 6.3-litre V8 engine, additional performance dynamics are provided by items like adjustable AMG coil-over sports suspension, a compound braking system and active rear-axle transmission cooling.

The styling mirrors the car's potential in a frankly menacing fashion. The basic Coupé shape has been beefed-up lowered and widened with an AMG Aerodynamics package which includes a functionally tuned front splitter and an adjustable carbon-fibre rear wing.
AMG, the performance division of Mercedes-Benz Cars, has its roots firmly planted in international motorsport and they claim to have transfered substantial technology to the car from its successes in the DTM Touring Car Series.
